Diablo 3 Release in 2010? Unlikely…

Of course everyone comes to the site and asks about the D3 release. That is the whole point of the site. Well right now I think we have to assume that Blizzard is pushing off Diablo 3 release date into 2011. The primary reason for this is that Starcraft II was already confirmed as a release for June 27, 2010. If Diablo III was ready for this date then I think we would have seen an announcement already. Blizz has never released two major releases on the same day. Due to this confluence of events, initiated with release announcements, launch announcements, and new product announcemnets in the Diablo and Starcraft universes, always happening in June  - then unless Blizzard is looking to get this product out before Christmas, a turnover this year is highly unlikely.

Once Blizzard gets set on a path they rarely deviate from it. So this series of announcements – D2 release Jun 27, D3 announcement June 26, Starcraft II release June 27 – it seems like they will stick to this mantra and give us a June date. With June already starting up, it’s not likely to be this year.

So unfortunately all the incredibly patient and ravenous Diablo 3 Fans are going to have to wait until next year for their delicious release.

Blizzard is sh** and a dissapoitment

  2. Ismo says:

Yeah Blizzard wants to everybody waiting and waiting the game. They want more respect and “most wanted game ever! “

  3. dP says:

I don’t think they want everyone waiting and waiting… I think they put projects on hold to push other ones leaving them without the power to finish it. Diablo 3 has been in the works for YEARS, I had a friend that was working on it at Blizzard over 4 years ago… So it is definitely not a priority of theirs.

The thing is this… They have dedicated and passionate fans in World of Warcraft players, it is their cashcow, so every chance they have to make an add-on and keep that world entertained they take it. They can’t afford to lose those players. This leaves little left to work on other games and since they put Starcraft II on 2nd of the list Diablo 3 is pretty much on the back burner.

The beta was supposed to be announced for this thing already, so don’t expect this thing to be released any time in the near future. I wouldn’t even be surprised if they ended up dropping the project. What better time to release this game than on the 10 year anniversary? It obviously isn’t a priority.

  4. Arg0n1t3 says:

Blizzard would not drop the project. That’d be dumb. That’d be beyond dumb. No, I’m not just saying that because I’m blinded by emotions; it’s the truth. They would make millions of dollars off this. Yes, WoW is probably a priority but Diablo III is coming. They wouldn’t drop a potential “greatest game of all time.” Nor would they drop something they’ve put this much time into. This will not be another Duke Nukem Forever. Unlike Duke Nukem Forever, Blizzard is not in danger of (or already has again) run out of business and the programmers are not creating it during their spare time. Bottom line: Diablo III is coming and it will be the Grand-Daddy of all games; Period.

    Bastard……………………………..wait n wait…….

I personally think a way for blizz to solve their release issue is to make Battle Net cost like 20 dollars a month and you can play WHATEVER game you purchase without extra fees. It would make revenue flow in from ALL fans, and it would allow fans of more than one game to play w/o fear of having to choose an expense. Make Bnet Cost a monthly expensive like Xbox does and now you have an entire community with constant revenue flow. They could release games on time and make money the same by recruiting more into BNET w/ game specific fans, like ONLY a SCII or DII fane. People who aren’t wow players are still required to play through BNET, ofcourse the free service would be hosting your own LAN Party. I foresee this the future of Bnet

  7. Trent says:

dude up there has a point, this game is pretty similar to WoW, in fact a ton of WoW gamers are former D2 and D1 gamers and only play wow cuz its the closest thing…. millions of ppl play wow and pay for it so why release a game thats taking a ton of business away? that’d be like inventing something that brings billions and billions of dollars into your pocket, and then inventing something better to compete with that same product….. that’d be retarded. but ya i feel that D3 is not even close to finished, there’s a ton of job openings for this if u go on blizz’s website, which means not many people are working on it obviously…..

  8. Chris says:

Are you retarded? how is WoW even remotely similar to Diablo? And how can it be considered “the closest thing”??

Not only is it a completely different type of game, its also massively multiplayer where Diablo 2 was only multiplayer. Almost any singleplayer game would be more like Diablo 2 than WoW.

In addition, there is already a great game for people wanting a Diablo fix while they wait for Diablo 3. Torchlight.

It is absolutely fantastic, and incredibly cheap on Steam to boot.

  9. Rick says:

Gamestop’s Diablo III page now shows a 12/31/2010 release date.

  10. Joe says:

I remember when Blizzard first announced SC2 back in summer of 07′. And it was scheduled to come out Nov of 08′. But we all know when it came out. So I say Diablo 3 will be out early 2013! maybe late 2012 at the earliest.

  11. KobraBranca says:

The apocalipsis will come quickest than Diablo 3 in 2012… That game keeps me waiting for long ago for the release date.. 2012 is coming Guys!! So hurry up releasing Diablo 3.. I wanna play it at least 1 time in my life!

  12. Release says:

The release of Diablo 3 will be on or around the December 31, 2011 date. This is the date that all major electronic and game retailers will have the product in their warehouses.

As they are MAJOR retailers, the would know when a product would be available to them. They get this info from Blizzard Entertainment Distribution directly. Some of the few major retailers this data was gathered from includes Future Shop, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and many others. Don’t expect the game until at least the end of the 2011 year.

    Hope this helps some.

  13. Sanatos says:

Blizzard has created what I believe to be the best games of all time. The quality of their games is beyond any other games I have played. In every genre they create games for, their titles beat the competition.

Which obviously means they don’t settle for 90% quality. They want everything to be 100%, perfect, and tested.

In reality that means you can aim for a release date, but during development and testing, it is only logical that the release date gets postponed and further postponed. I am amazed that other companies don’t do that as Blizzard does.

Over the years, Blizzard has earned its stripes, pushing them into the position where they can afford to let people wait endlessly for a game that they know will be worth waiting for. They know their fans will not abandon them anyway.

So we can moan, complain and argue all we want. In the end, Diablo III will come and keep us locked into our computer rooms, wether people state otherwise or not. Diablo III will be Blizzard’s next big thing.

As for a release date: There has been quite a bit of information on the net about characters, classes, models, ingame movies so I would think the game will be scheduled for somewhere in 2011. The ‘June idea’ seems probable. Otherwise a release early december 2011 will be my bet.

Cheer up guys. We will be pleased :)

  14. Chelsea says:

^^ @Release- Well, if the release date isn’t going to be till (maybe) the end of 2011, why would GameStop have a pre-order link available over a year in advance?

  15. matt says:

the diablo 3 reserve has been available since october 2008 when i worked there its december 2010 so thats 2 years in advance already i put my bets on one of three times because you have 3 huge release dates for games a year early march early june or mid november those are the times with the big game releases

  16. Dave says:

Torchlite sux. Gets old fast. There is no real fix for diablo. They need to get on the ball before were old men and our grand children are anticipating this.
